PNM's Income-Qualified Assistance Programs

PNM Good Neighbor Fund

This bill assistance fund helps residential, income-eligible customers pay part or all of their past-due electric bill. Eligible customers for assistance can receive financial help once per calendar year. Learn more about the eligibility requirements here: https://www.pnm.com/good-neighbor-fund

PNM COVID Relief Fund

When the pandemic hit in 2020, PNM established this fund to help our customers who were impacted financially and could not keep up with their electric bills. We still have funds available and want to help.  This is a one-time benefit for qualified customers.

Applying for the PNM Good Neighbor Fund and COVID Relief Fund -
Customers seeking assistance from the PNM Good Neighbor Fund can apply a few different ways:

  • Attend an in-person PNM bill assistance event: Check our online schedule to find the next event near you.
  • Visit a PNM Good Neighbor Fund location: Many PNM service areas across New Mexico have a location where customers seeking help in that area can schedule an appointment to get help from the PNM Good Neighbor Fund program. Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

The federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides qualified New Mexico residents with a one-time, annual payment toward heating and electric bills. The 2022-2023 LIHEAP Program is OPEN and accepting applications. Heating Season Shut-Off Protection

If you qualify for low-income help from LIHEAP, you may also qualify for the New Mexico heating season moratorium. During this time, eligible customers' electricity cannot be turned off from November 15, 2022, through March 15, 2023.  Learn more about this program and see if you qualify here: https://www.pnm.com/heating-season-shut-off-protection 

Home Weatherization Assistance

Income-qualified customers may also be eligible to receive free installation of energy-saving products, which improves the energy efficiency of their homes and lowers their energy bills. For more information or to apply to receive the home energy efficiency assistance:

Requesting More Time to Pay Your Bill

A payment extension gives you more time to pay an amount that is already past due and helps you avoid having your services shut off due to non-payment. Learn more https://www.pnm.com/more-time-to-pay
