Fat Tire Cycles Fat Tire Cycle Owner Stevie McCampbell was approached by Facility Solutions Group with the idea for an energy-efficiency upgrade. As part of the PNM Quick Saver program, approved contractor Facility Solutions Group made an energy assessment of the Fat Tire Cycle facility in order to identify energy-saving opportunities. The audit identified several areas where changes could save energy and money.

1. 72 lights were retrofitted to utilize more-efficient technology;
2. Three exit signs were converted to energy efficient LED signs; and
3. Occupancy controls were installed in the office, fitting room and storage areas so that lights turn off automatically when they don't sense movement after a designated period of time.

These lighting upgrades are expected to reduce Fat Tire Cycles' energy costs by more than $2900 a year.

Stevie said, "we had several lights that were out of order and too expensive to replace. When the Quick Saver program was presented to us, we found out that we could make our lighting much more energy efficient. We were also able to upgrade the broken equipment to higher-quality, more-efficient technology, so we couldn't be happier with the program."

Facility Solutions Group handled all of the paperwork for Fat Tire Cycle, and PNM covered more than 70 percent of the project costs with a rebate.
