Powering Community, Together

Giving Tuesday: Powering Community Together

This Giving Tuesday, consider making a difference close to home by supporting neighbors in need. Through PNM's Good Neighbor Fund, income-qualified customers facing financial hardship can receive assistance with past-due electric bills, helping families, seniors, and other vulnerable community members stay connected to the energy they rely on every day.

So far this year, the Good Neighbor Fund has awarded 3,108 families with a total of $542,975 toward energy bills. The program is made possible through the generosity of customers, employees, and shareholders, demonstrating how we can make a meaningful difference when we come together to support our communities. PNM shareholders also match customer contributions, increasing the impact of every gift.

Giving back goes beyond financial contributions. Through the employee-led PNM | TNMP Foundation, grants support nonprofit organizations that strengthen communities across New Mexico, helping people overcome challenges, advance through education, and build brighter futures. In addition, PNM employees dedicate their time and talents through volunteer efforts, including community service projects that create lasting local impact.

This Tuesday, whether you choose to donate, volunteer, or support a local nonprofit, your generosity can help build stronger, more resilient communities for all. Together, we can help ensure our neighbors stay connected to the services and support they need.

Keep the Holidays Merry, Bright, and Safe

Keep the Holidays Merry, Bright, and Safe

There's nothing quite like the warm glow of holiday lights to bring seasonal cheer to your home. As you decorate this year, consider making the switch to LED lights. They use less energy, last longer, and stay cooler than traditional incandescent bulbs, helping you save energy while creating a festive display that shines all season long. Looking for even more efficiency? ENERGY STAR® certified holiday lights can use up to 75% less energy than conventional options.

A little extra care can also go a long way in keeping your celebrations safe. Before hanging lights, inspect cords and decorations for signs of wear or damage, and be careful not to overload outlets. If you're decorating outdoors, stay at least 10 feet away from overhead power lines and use a wooden or fiberglass ladder instead of a metal one.

Finally, remember to turn off holiday lights before heading to bed or leaving home. By following a few simple safety tips, you can enjoy a holiday season that is both beautiful and worry-free.

Powering Safety in New Mexico

Powering Safety in New Mexico

PNM is committed to keeping our communities safe, reliable, and beautiful. Recently, we partnered with local balloonists and first responders to share power line safety tips during ballooning season, reminding everyone to stay away from any balloon that becomes entangled in electrical equipment and call 911 and PNM immediately.

Our crews also teamed up with Albuquerque Police Department and Keep Albuquerque Beautiful to remove hundreds of shoes and other objects from overhead lines near the State Fairgrounds, helping reduce safety hazards and protect electric reliability.

Meanwhile, our vegetation management teams continue year-round work to trim trees and clear vegetation near power lines, helping prevent outages, reduce wildfire risk, and keep the lights on for our customers. Together, these efforts help build safer, stronger communities across New Mexico.

El Niño Watch: What New Mexicans Should Know

El Niño Watch: What New Mexicans Should Know

Forecasts suggest a very strong El Niño could develop later this year, potentially influencing weather conditions beginning in November and December. An El Niño is caused by unusually warm Pacific Ocean temperatures and can bring a cooler, wetter winter to New Mexico, including increased chances for rain, snow and stronger storms.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center say there is a 75% chance this El Niño will become the strongest on record since 1950. While weather outlooks can change, PNM prepares year-round by maintaining and strengthening the grid, monitoring conditions, and planning for severe weather.

It's all part of our commitment to reliable service and Powering New Mexico, Together.
