Hosting Japanese New Technology Development

PNM is a part of Japanese advanced energy research here in New Mexico.  The project consists of an advanced building called a microgrid, which is a small-scale version of the centralized grid. A microgrid uses on site generation and advanced controls, and can work independently of the larger grid for short periods of time.

The NEDO microgrid uses an onsite natural gas generator, fuel cell, solar panels, battery storage, and thermal storage along with advanced building controls.  Additional work has been done with PNM to study how the NEDO microgrid can work together with the PNM grid and the Prosperity Energy Storage Project   for the benefit of the overall grid.
