Either. You can choose to do your HEC in person or virtually. It's up to you.
How long does it take to receive my rebate?
Mail-in rebates are processed in about 68 weeks after receipt.

Can I combine PNM rebates with state or federal incentives?
Yes PNM supports stacking its rebates with state and federal rebates or tax credits.
Are all PNM customers eligible for rebates?
Yes all residential customers are eligible for PNM's energy-efficiency rebates and instant discounts at participating retailers.
Commercial and industrial customers may also participate in money-saving business programs like multifamily, small or large business rebates, and retrofit/new-construction incentives.
Do I need to be present for my Home Energy Checkup (HEC)?
As the homeowner or occupant, you must be present for the checkup appointment (virtual or in-person) to receive free products, exclusive rebates, and the energy report.
What if I'm a renter or a business owner?
Renters: You're still eligible for the Home Energy Checkup (HEC), provided you live in an apartment building with four units or fewer and have landlord approval. PNM will give you the same energy-saving consultation and free products as people in single-family homes.
Business owners: Commercial customers have access to dedicated programs, including multifamily property rebates, business Power Saver, retrofit/new-construction rebates, and distributor discounts.
Where does the money come from to pay for these programs?
Funding for electric rebates comes from a large collection of sources such as the Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA), the Department of Energy, LIHEAP, government programs, customer contributions, and PNM.
Why does PNM offer these rebates?
We designed these rebates to help:
Lower your bills by providing incentives for energy-efficient appliances, equipment, and home upgrades.
Reduce electricity demand overall, especially during peak times, helping prevent outages and stabilizing the grid.
Boost environmental benefits, cutting down energy use, CO¿ emissions, and water consumption. Since 2007, PNM has invested $121 million in rebates, saving nearly 5.9 billion kWh and preventing 3.5 million metric tons of CO2 emissions.
Are there limits to how many times I can use these rebates or how many appliances I can buy?
Yes, specific limits apply:
Residential customers can recycle up to two refrigerators or freezers per account.
For HEC-based rebates (such as early replacement of fridge, A/C, dryer): typically one rebate per appliance type, with two cooling rebates per electric account.
All rebates are first-come, first-served, with annual fund limits. https://www.pnm.com/homerebates
Business rebate programs also have certain limitations, based on property and equipment type.
Is there a limit to the number of refrigerators I can recycle?
Yes, residential customers can recycle up to two (2) refrigerators or freezers per account.
Can I sign up for PNM Power Saver if I have evaporative (swamp) cooling?
No. This program is only for customers with refrigerated air conditioning.
