What To Know About WHEV
Before you get started, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Applications must be completed by an authorized, residential account holder.
- Your current rate will remain in effect until your meter is exchanged and the new rate is activated in our billing system.
- We encourage you to review PNM¿s Whole Home EV (WHEV) Rate details before applying.
- All electricity used outside of WHEV charging hours will be billed at the standard Residential 1A block rate.
For Customers with Solar or Net Metering
If you currently participate in PNM¿s net metering program (such as with residential solar), there are a few important details to know before enrolling.
The WHEV Rate Pilot accounts for overnight hours separately, meaning solar production and home energy use are measured only during the times they occur. Because most solar systems generate little to no energy between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., usage during that period will not typically be offset by solar production.
All other electricity use and solar generation from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. will continue to be measured through your standard net metering setup, just as before.
