8th Annual New Mexico Economic Outlook Conference Set for Tuesday

Albuquerque: On Tuesday, Jan. 15, Wells Fargo, Albuquerque Business First, PNM, University of New Mexico's Bureau of Business and Economic Research and The City of Albuquerque will host the 8th annual New Mexico Economic Outlook Conference.

The N.M. Economic Outlook Conference is the only event dedicated to the exploration of the very latest economic information specific to the state and national economy. On Tuesday, beginning at 7 a.m., inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel & Resort in Albuquerque, more than 400 attendees including business owners, government officials, policy makers and corporate executives are expected to participate.

Featured presenters for this year's conference are: Esther George, president, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City; Tim Quinlan, economist for Wells Fargo Securities; and Lee Reynis, Ph.D., director of UNM's Bureau of Business and Economic Research.

"As the state's largest bank by deposits with over 96 bank stores in 52 communities, we are committed to working with our city, county and state leadership, our businesses, our schools and communities to make New Mexico stronger and to grow our economy one loan, one investment and one person at a time," said Lisa Riley, regional president for Wells Fargo New Mexico and Western Boarder. "The knowledge that will be shared at this year's conference will provide a strong foundation for making business decisions and giving an outlook to future economic growth."

"Making Albuquerque a world-class city focused on economic growth has been a priority of my administra¬tion since day one. Just as we look at ways to help existing business, we need to take a deliberate look at ways to make our community more competitive in the recruitment of new industry," said Mayor Richard Berry. "The invaluable information provided through this conference allows me and other decision makers to plan for future policy decisions that will spur economic development."

"We live in a time where business leaders are constantly navigating through treacherous economic waters, and having to do so with very limited visibility," said Ian Anderson, president and publisher for Albuquerque Business First. "The need for local market intelligence and economic insight has never been higher in New Mexico. The Economic Outlook Conference provides New Mexicans with up-to-date information about national, regional and local trends, giving us all a peek around the corner into 2013."

During the conference, PNM will present its annual Economic Forecaster Awards. The awards are given to conference attendees who were able to best predict specific economic indicators during the previous year.
