PNM Names Rio Rancho and Bernalillo Businesses "Energy Stars"

PNM Recognizes Fourteen Local Businesses for their Energy-Efficient Upgrades, Saving Enough Energy to Power about 220 Homes for 1-year.

 

(Rio Rancho, N.M.): On Tuesday, November 15, PNM recognized local businesses that went above and beyond in saving energy in 2015 by participating in PNM business energy efficiency rebate programs.  The recognition took place at Club Rio Rancho at a luncheon.  The top fourteen Rio Rancho and Bernalillo PNM Business Energy Efficiency Stars are:

  • Perfection Honda - large business honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Michael's Stores Inc. - large business honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Bed Bath & Beyond - large business third honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Wash & Fold Laundromat - small business with the highest energy savings.
  • Sandia Fuel Conoco - small business honorable mention with high energy savings.
  • Phillips 66 - small business second honorable mention with high energy savings.
  • Bernalillo Public Schools - government/nonprofit entity with the highest energy savings.
  • Presbyterian Healthcare Services - government/nonprofit honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Central New Mexico - nonprofit honorable mention entity with the highest energy savings.
  • Rio Rancho Public Schools - building tune-up program with the highest energy savings.
  • Divot Services Inc. -  building tune-up program honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Planet Fitness -  building tune-up program second honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Rio Rancho Public Schools - distributor discount program category with the highest energy savings.
  • Bernalillo High School - distributor discount program with the highest energy savings.

"Helping business customers save money by becoming more energy-wise is an important part of what we do," said Amy Miller, director, PNM Environment, Local Government and Community Affairs. "We've enjoyed working with Rio Rancho and Bernalillo businesses to help find ways to reduce energy use and we hope more businesses will join us."  

The top award in the large business category goes to Perfection Honda for their energy savings project that included replacing interior and exterior lighting fixtures with LEDs.   The project will save 638,456 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, and earned Perfection Honda a rebate of $73,046 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go Michael's Stores and Bed Bath & Beyond in the large business category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling $10,900 and will save 116,776 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the small business category, the top award goes to Wash & Fold Laundromat. They replaced exterior lighting fixtures with T8s and LEDs.  Their project will save 69,342 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $10,355 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to Sandia Fuel Conoco and Phillips 66 in the small business category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling more than $15,794 and will save 78,974 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the nonprofit/government entity category, the top award goes to Bernalillo Public Schools. As part of their new construction, they installed energy-efficient interior and exterior lighting.  Their project will save 371,507 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $53,087 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to Presbyterian Healthcare Services and Boys & Girls Club of Central New Mexico in the nonprofit/government entity category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling more than $9,857 and will save over 120,704 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the building tune-up program category, the top award goes to Rio Rancho Public Schools.  Three of their staff members received Building Operator Certifications, which will help them identify energy efficiency improvement opportunities within their buildings.  These improvements will save about 91,532 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, and earned RRPS $3,600 in PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mention goes to Divot Services and Planet Fitness in the building tune-up program category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received rebates totaling $4,773 and will save nearly 20,279 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the distributor discount program category, the top award goes to Rio Rancho Public Schools.  They installed 31 VendingMiser controls on their cold beverage vending machines.  Their project will save 49,972 kilowatt hours electricity annually and received a rebate of $2,945 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mention goes to Bernalillo High School in the distributor program category for their energy-saving projects.  They received a rebate of $708 and will save nearly 1,458 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

The rebates received from these businesses totaled $185,065 and will save 1,590,552 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which is enough to power approximately 220 homes for a year.

Since 2007, PNM energy efficiency programs have provided more than $53 million in customer rebates and helped save almost 1.9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity ¿  enough to power approximately 274,000 homes for a year.  These programs have kept an estimated 1.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide out of the air and saved 685 million gallons of water.  For more information on the PNM Business Energy Efficiency Program, please visit pnm.com/bizrebates.
