PNM Names Santa Fe Businesses "Energy Stars"

PNM Recognizes Fifteen Santa Fe Businesses for their Energy-Efficient Upgrades, Saving Enough Energy to Power about 615 Homes for 1-year. 

 

(Santa Fe, N.M.): On Wednesday, November 2, PNM recognized local businesses that went above and beyond in saving energy in 2015 by participating in PNM business energy efficiency rebate programs.  The recognition took place at Santa Fe Area Homebuilders at a luncheon.  The top fifteen Santa Fe PNM Business Energy Efficiency Stars are:

  • Commonwealth Loretto Operating - large business with the highest energy savings
  • Inn of the Five Graces -  large business honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Big R - large business second honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Smith's Food & Drug Stores - large business third honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Brewer Oil Company - small business honorable mention with high energy savings
  • Fashion Outlet of Santa Fe - small business second honorable mention with high energy savings
  • Inn at Santa Fe - small business second honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Boot Barn - small business third honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • State of New Mexico - government entity with the highest energy savings
  • Santa Fe Public School - nonprofit/government entity honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Presbyterian Healthcare Services - nonprofit entity second honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Santa Fe Opera - nonprofit entity second honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Shidoni Foundry - most innovative category with the highest energy savings
  • State of New Mexico - building tune-up program with the highest energy savings
  • U.S. Public Health Service - building tune-up program honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Divot Services - building tune-up program second honorable mention with the highest energy savings
  • Santa Fe Public Schools - distributor discount program category with the highest energy savings

"Helping business customers save money by becoming more energy-wise is an important part of what we do," said Amy Miller, director, PNM Environment, Local Government and Community Affairs. "We've enjoyed working with Santa Fe businesses to help find ways to reduce energy use and we hope more businesses will join us."  

The top award in the large business category goes to Commonwealth Loretto for their energy savings project that included installation interior and exterior lighting.   The project will save 628,762 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, and earned Commonwealth Loretto a rebate of $14,381 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to Inn of the Five Graces, Big R, and Smith's Food and Drug Stores in the large business category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling $23,577 and will save 561,496 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the small business category, the top award goes to the Brewer Oil Company. They replaced exterior lighting fixtures with LEDs.  Their project will save 224,855 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $44,971 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to Fashion Outlet of Santa Fe, Inn at Santa Fe, and Boot Barn in the small business category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling more than $51,670 and will save 330,406 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the nonprofit/government entity category, the top award goes to the State of New Mexico. They installed energy-efficient lighting and upgraded their HVAC systems.  Their project will save 1,239,186 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $74,263 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to Santa Fe Public Schools, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, and the Santa Fe Opera in the nonprofit/government entity category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling more than $126,000 and will save over 1.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the most innovative category, the top award goes to the Shidoni Foundry.  They replaced old, less-efficient interior lighting in their art gallery and bronze art foundry space with high efficiency LEDs.  Their lighting upgrade enables better visibility and lower light temperatures for foundry artists working in bronze, as well as for gallery visitors viewing sculptures and mixed media artwork.  Their project will save 76,338 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $4,391 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

In the building tune-up program category, the top award goes to State of New Mexico.  One of their staff members received Building Operator Certification, which will help them identify energy efficiency improvement opportunities within their buildings.  These improvements will save about 33,891 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, and earned the State $1,200 in PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mention goes to U.S. Public Health Service and Divot Services in the building tune-up program category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received rebates totaling $4,745 and will save nearly 28,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the distributor discount program category, the top award goes to Santa Fe Public Schools.  They installed 55 VendingMiser controls on their cold beverage vending machines.  Their project will save 88,660 kilowatt hours electricity annually and received a rebate of $5,225 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

The rebates received from these businesses total more than $350,000 and will save 4,428,803 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which is enough to power approximately 615 homes for a year.

Since 2007, PNM energy efficiency programs have provided more than $53 million in customer rebates and helped save almost 1.9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity ¿  enough to power approximately 274,000 homes for a year.  These programs have kept an estimated 1.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide out of the air and saved 685 million gallons of water.  For more information on the PNM Business Energy Efficiency Program, please visit pnm.com/bizrebates.
