PNM Names Los Lunas and Bosque Farms Businesses "Energy Stars"

PNM Recognizes Eight Local Businesses for their Energy-Efficient Upgrades

 

(LOS LUNAS, N.M.): Today PNM recognized local businesses that went above and beyond in saving energy in 2015 by participating in PNM business energy efficiency rebate programs.  The recognition took place at Los Lunas Chamber of Commerce luncheon.  The top eight Los Lunas and Belen PNM Business Energy Efficiency Stars are:

  • Accurate Machine & Tool - large business with the highest energy savings.
  • Dolgencorp - large business honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Two Minute Warning Crystal Ranch - small business with the highest energy savings.
  • S and J's Sporting Goods - small business honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Action RV - mall business honorable mention with high energy savings.
  • Los Lunas Public Schools - nonprofit/government entity with the highest energy savings.
  • University of New Mexico - nonprofit/government entity honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Los Lunas Public Schools - distributor discount program category with the highest energy savings.
  • Divot Services - distributor discount program category honorable mention with highest energy savings.

"Helping business customers save money by becoming more energy-wise is an important part of what we do," said Amy Miller, director, PNM Environment, Local Government and Community Affairs. "We've enjoyed working with Los Lunas and Bosque Farm  businesses to help find ways to reduce energy use and we hope more businesses will join us."  

The top award in the large business category goes to Accurate Machine & Tool for their energy savings project that included installation of energy-efficient interior and exterior lighting.  The project will save 337,677 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, and earned Accurate Machine & Tool a rebate of $24,741 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mention goes to Dolgencorp in the large business category for their energy-saving projects.  They received a rebate totaling more than $2,300 and will save nearly 33,723 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the small business category, the top award goes to the Two Minute Warning Crystal Ranch. They replaced old exterior lighting fixtures with LEDs.  Their project will save 20,425 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $4,085 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to S and J's Sporting Goods and Action RV in the small business category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling more than $4,800 and will save nearly 30,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the nonprofit/government entity category, the top award goes to the Los Lunas Public Schools. They installed energy-efficient interior and exterior lighting and 25 new efficient air conditioning units.  Their project will save 530,259 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $43,227 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mention goes to the University of New Mexico in the nonprofit/government entity category for their energy-saving projects.  They received a rebate totaling more than $4,800 and will save over 54,034 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the building tune-up program category, the top award goes to Los Lunas Public Schools.  One of their staff members received a Building Operator Certification, which will help them identify energy efficiency improvement opportunities within their buildings.  These improvements will save 71,062 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, and earned them $1,200 in rebates from the PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mention goes to Divot Services in the building tune-up program category for their energy-saving projects.  They received a rebate totaling $5,838 and will save over 19,658 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

Since 2007, PNM energy efficiency programs have provided more than $53 million in customer rebates and helped save almost 1.9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity ¿  enough to power approximately 274,000 homes for a year.  These programs have kept an estimated 1.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide out of the air and saved 685 million gallons of water.  For more information on the PNM Business Energy Efficiency Program, please visit pnm.com/bizrebates.
