PNM Names Albuquerque Businesses "Energy Stars"

PNM Recognizes Twelve Albuquerque Businesses for their Energy-Efficient Upgrades

 

Albuquerque: On Wednesday, October 12, PNM will recognize local businesses that went above and beyond in saving energy in 2015 by participating in PNM business energy efficiency rebate programs.  The recognition will take place at the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce from 8:30am-9:30am. The top twelve Albuquerque PNM Business Energy Efficiency Stars are:

  • American Gypsum - large business with the highest energy savings.
  • Rich Ford Sales - large business honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Circle K Stores - large business second honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • ABF Freight - small business with the highest energy savings.
  • Airport Parking - small business honorable mention with high energy savings.
  • Summit Truck Group - small business second honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  •  University of New Mexico - nonprofit/government entity with the highest energy savings.
  • Bernalillo County - nonprofit/government entity honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • Sandia Baptist Church - nonprofit/government entity second honorable mention with highest energy savings.
  • Albuquerque Public Schools - most innovative category with the highest energy savings.
  • University of New Mexico - Building Tune-up program with the highest energy savings.
  • Albuquerque Public Schools - Building Tune-up program honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • City of Albuquerque - Building Tune-up program second honorable mention with the highest energy savings.
  • University of New Mexico - Distributor Discount program category with the highest energy savings.
  • Desert Hills - Distributor Discount program category honorable mention with the highest energy savings.

"Helping business customers save money by becoming more energy-wise is an important part of what we do," said Amy Miller, director, PNM Environment, Local Government and Community Affairs. "We've enjoyed working with Albuquerque businesses to help find ways to reduce energy use and we hope more businesses will join us."  

The top award in the large business category goes to American Gypsum for their energy savings project that included installation of a custom HVAC system.   The project will save 1,153,942 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, and earned American Gypsum a rebate of $49,675 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to Rich Ford Sales and Circle K Stores in the large business category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling more than $108,000 and will save nearly 1.3 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the small business category, the top award goes to the ABF Freight. They replaced interior and exterior lighting and installed occupancy sensors.  Their project will save 450,498 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $81,716 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to Airport Parking and Summit Truck Group in the small business category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling more than $93, 915 and will save nearly 600,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the nonprofit/government entity category, the top award goes to the University of New Mexico. They installed energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems.  Their project will save 787,077 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $80,745 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mentions go to Bernalillo County and Sandia Baptist Church in the nonprofit/government entity category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received a rebate totaling more than $43,387 and will save over 585,623 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the most innovative category, the top award goes to the Albuquerque Public Schools.  They implemented 22 comprehensive projects at multiple locations, covering a wide scope of energy efficiency measures including lighting, custom HVAC systems, and refrigeration and food service equipment.  Their project will save 2,426,206 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $188,201 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

In the building tune-up program category, the top award goes to University of New Mexico.  Two of their staff members received Building Operator Certification, which will help them identify energy efficiency improvement opportunities within their buildings.  These improvements will save 553,319 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, and earned the University $2,400 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mention goes to City of Albuquerque and Albuquerque Schools in the building tune-up program category for their energy-saving projects.  Together, they received rebates totaling $4,800 and will save over 700,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

In the distributor discount program category, the top award goes to University of New Mexico.  They installed 106 VendingMisers.  Their project will save 170,872 kilowatt hours electricity annually and received a rebate of $10,070 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.

Honorable mention goes to Desert Hills in the distributor discount program category for their energy-efficiency projects.  They received a rebate of $9,685 and will save nearly 130,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

Since 2007, PNM energy efficiency programs have provided more than $53 million in customer rebates and helped save almost 1.9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity ¿  enough to power approximately 274,000 homes for a year.  These programs have kept an estimated 1.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide out of the air and saved 685 million gallons of water.  For more information on the PNM Business Energy Efficiency Program, please visit pnm.com/bizrebates.
