PNM Names East Mountain Businesses "Energy Stars"
PNM Recognizes East Mountain Businesses for Their Energy-Efficient Upgrades
Albuquerque: On Thursday, October 6, PNM will recognize local businesses that went above and beyond in saving energy in 2015 by participating in PNM business energy efficiency rebate programs. The recognition will take place at the East Mountains Los Vecinos Community Center. The top four East Mountain PNM Business Energy Efficiency Stars are:
- Triangle Grocery - large business with the highest energy savings.
- Sandia Park Self Storage - large business honorable mention with highest energy savings.
- Brewer Oil Company - small business honorable mention with high energy savings.
- Bernalillo County Fire Stations - area government entities with the highest energy savings.
"Helping business customers save money by becoming more energy-wise is an important part of what we do," said Amy Miller, director, PNM Environment, Local Government and Community Affairs. "We've enjoyed working with East Mountain businesses to help find ways to reduce energy use and we hope more businesses will join us."
The top award in the large business category goes to Triangle Grocery for their energy savings project that included replacement of 32 interior lighting fixtures. The project will save 54,373 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, and earned Triangle Grocery a rebate of $3,494 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.
Honorable mention goes to Sandia Park Self Storage in the large business category for their energy-saving projects. They received a rebate of more than $1,000 and will save nearly 14,964 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.
In the small business category, the top award goes to the Brewer Oil Company. They replaced 24 exterior lighting fixtures, which will save 23,482 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and received a rebate of $4,696 from PNM Business Energy Efficiency Programs.
Bernalillo County Fire receives the government institution award with their installation of energy-efficient lighting at Station 41 in Tijeras and Station 46 in Sandia Park. The project will save 25,813 kilowatt hours of electricity annually and earned Bernalillo County a PNM Business Energy Efficiency Program rebate of nearly $2,000.
Since 2007, PNM energy efficiency programs have provided more than $53 million in customer rebates and helped save almost 1.9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity ¿ enough to power approximately 274,000 homes for a year. These programs have kept an estimated 1.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide out of the air and saved 685 million gallons of water.
