Commercial EV Rate

Charge Smart With PNM's EV Charging Station Pilot Rate

Enjoy low off-peak prices, a clear pricing structure, and predictable operating costs that helps you stay competitive. With a dedicated meter and flexible time-of-use pricing, we make it easy to manage your station and deliver great value to drivers.

What is the EV Charging Station Pilot rate?

Rate 3F is a non-residential EV charging rate designed specifically for EV charging stations. It applies only to electricity used for EV charging and requires a dedicated, separately metered service.

Rate 3F uses a volumetric rate structure, meaning charging costs are based on the amount of electricity used. This helps site hosts:

  • Clearly separate EV charging costs from the rest of their facility's energy use
  • Better understand and predict monthly electricity costs
  • Set fair, consistent pricing for EV drivers based on actual energy consumption
  • Gain a margin on electricity sold as fuel

Apply For the 3F Commercial Charging Station Pilot Rate

To apply for the 3F rate, you'll need to provide some basic information about your EV charging service. This application also requires an electrical one-line diagram so we can confirm the service is dedicated to EV charging.

You may want to have this document ready before you begin, as it may need to be requested from your electrical contractor or an internal facilities team.

Once submitted, we'll review your application and confirm your enrollment within 5 business days.

EV Benefits

Cleaner, Better, More Affordable

Electric vehicles reduce emissions and save you money on maintenance. With flexible charging options and plenty of range, daily driving is more convenient (and efficient) than ever.

EV Fest

Drive more, spend less

Skip the pump and save with every mile. WeĀæll help you go further with rebates up to $500 and a low overnight charging rate that makes powering your ride cheaper than gas.

EV Fest

Pay less to power up

Electricity costs about one-third the price of gas, it's cheaper to "fill" up an EV than a gas car. More miles, fewer dollars, every time you plug in.

EV Fest

Charge on your time

Power up at home, at night, or whenever itĀæs convenient. Just plug in, relax, and wake up fully charged. When you charge at home, your vehicle is always ready to go when you are.

EV Fest

Move with confidence

Electric vehicles are engineered for safety, earning top NHTSA ratings and equipped with advanced systems that protect what matters mostĀæyou.

EV Fest

Breathe easy

Every electric mile is a cleaner one. With zero tailpipe emissions, your EV helps keep New MexicoĀæs skies clear and its air fresh for you and for future generations.

EV Fest

Enjoy efficiency

EVs convert roughly 80Āæ90% of the energy they use into motion, while gas-powered vehicles typically convert less than 30%, with most energy lost as heat. With an EV, you get more distance from every unit of energy.

EV Fest

Feel free to go farther

Most people travel around 35 miles a day. TodayĀæs electric vehicles deliver a median range of 200+ miles, enough for commuting, errands, and weekend adventures with plenty of charge to spare.

EV Fest

Protect the planet

Electric vehicles produce fewer emissions, help preserve air and water quality, and run quietly for a cleaner, calmer environment. Every electric mile moves New Mexico toward a healthier future.

AC Level 1 Charger

Provides about 3Āæ5 miles of range per hour of charging using a standard 120V household outlet. Level 1 charging can support light or occasional charging needs but typically requires long charging times.

Voltage: 120V 1-Phase AC
Amps:  12-16 Amps
Charging Loads:  1.4 to 1.9 kW
Charge Time For Vehicle:  3-5 miles of range per hour

AC Level 2 Charger

Delivers about 10Āæ20 miles of range per hour using a 240-volt residential outlet or hard-wired. A Level 2 charger powers your EV 3 to 5 times faster than a standard Level 1 outlet. You'll also find Level 2 chargers in public spaces like shopping centers, apartment communities, and workplaces.

Voltage: 208V or 240V 1-Phase AC
Amps:  12-80 Amps (Typ. 32 Amps)
Charging Loads:  2.5 to 19.2 kW (Typ. 7 kW)
Charge Time For Vehicle:  10-20 miles of range per hour

DC Level 3 Fast Charger

DC Level 3 Fast Chargers (DCFC) are designed for quick stops when time matters, similar to a gas station experience. They can add approximately 20Āæ70 miles of range in 20Āæ30 minutes, making them well suited for longer trips or occasional emergency top-ups rather than daily charging.

Installing one requires a three-phase electrical setup, and your EV must be equipped for DC fast-charging capability. These high-powered stations are typically found in high-traffic public areas suited for quick charging.

Voltage: 208V or 480V 3-Phase AC
Amps:  <125 Amps (Typ. 60 Amps)
Charging Loads:  <90 kW (Typ. 50 kW)
Charge Time For Vehicle:  80% Charge in 20 - 30 Minutes

Find EV Charging and Clean Fuel Stations

Use the U.S. Department of EnergyĀæs locator tool to locate electric vehicle charging stationsĀæplus other alternative fuel options like hydrogen, CNG, and propaneĀæacross the U.S. and Canada.

For Customers with Solar or Net Metering

If you currently participate in PNMĀæs net metering program (such as with residential solar), there are a few important details to know before enrolling.

The WHEV Rate Pilot accounts for overnight hours separately, meaning solar production and home energy use are measured only during the times they occur. Because most solar systems generate little to no energy between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., usage during that period will not typically be offset by solar production.

All other electricity use and solar generation from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. will continue to be measured through your standard net metering setup, just as before.
