PNM LifeWatch Helps Keep Your Loved Ones Informed
Imagine your grandmother, father, or child needs medical equipment that runs on electricity to help them breathe or stay healthy. What happens if the power goes out?
That's where PNM LifeWatch comes in. It's a free service from PNM that helps families like yours stay informed during power outagesespecially when someone in the home depends on electricity for medical reasons.
What Does LifeWatch Do?
When You Sign Up For LifeWatch, PNM Will:
- Send you alerts when the power goes out.
- Let you know early if PNM plans to turn off power for safety reasons (like during the threat of a catastrophic wildfire).
- Call you during long outages, when possible, to check in.
- Alert a second person you trustlike a friend or family memberso they can help too.
This way, you're not alone. You'll know what's happening and can make a plan to keep your loved ones safe.
How Do You Sign Up?
It's easy! You just need:
- Your PNM account number
- The name and address on the account
- A phone number or email
- A second contact person
- To call 888-DIAL-PNM to sign up
LifeWatch helps keep you informed during outages, but it doesn't guarantee power will stay on, speed up restoration, or prevent shutoffs due to unpaid bills. However, it can give you a heads-up during wildfire-related shutoffs and keep you updated during unexpected outages so that you can stay aware and ready.
PNM Helps Connect Navajo Families To The Power Grid
This year, multiple PNM line crews joined Light Up Navajo a nationwide utility collaboration project to help bring electricity for the first time to hundreds of families living on the Navajo Nation in the greater Shiprock area. In 2024, the 11-week initiative worked to connect at least 150 homes on the Navajo Nation to the electric grid for the first time. Eight journeyman linemen represented PNM, working alongside other utility volunteer linemen, to construct and install new power poles and run new distribution lines to energize homes. Since the Light Up Navajo project started in 2019, approximately 880 family homes have been connected to the power grid.

Keeping Your Neighborhood Safe and Beautiful
How PNM Cares for Trees Year-Round
Dry weather and high winds can turn overgrown vegetation into a serious wildfire risk. In New Mexico, where wildfire danger is a growing concern, we take proactive steps to reduce these risks:
- In 2024, PNM crews worked on 45,000 trees across New Mexico and inspected over 3,300 miles of power lines.
- We've identified high-risk fire zones where we've increased inspection and maintenance efforts.
We all have a role to play in keeping our communities safe:
- Plant Smart: When planting new trees, consider their full-grown height and distance from power lines. Always call 811 before you dig to request the location of buried utilities so that you don't unintentionally dig into an underground utility line.
- Clear Debris: Remove dried leaves and grasses from your yard and gutters.
- Stay Safe: If you see a tree touching power lines and causing sparking or an uprooted tree or broken limb threatening power lines, please call 911 in an emergency and report the situation to us at 888-DIAL-PNM. Always assume a downed power line is energized, even if it's not sparking, arcing, or on fire.
