Managing Your Summer Bills

Managing Your Summer Bills

Summer is here! Warmer weather means more time outdoors, warmer temperatures indoors, and higher bills for cooling. Here are a few different rates and billing programs to give you a bit more control of your energy use while keeping cool.

Time-Of-Day (TOD) Rate

The Time-of-Day (TOD) pilot rate plan could help you save on your bill by offering lower rates during off-peak hours-when energy demand is lower. This includes evenings, daytime hours, weekends, and national holidays. During the summer months, you may also save by pre-cooling your home during these lower-cost times and using less energy during higher-priced on-peak hours. Shifting activities like laundry or running your dishwasher to off-peak hours could also help you take advantage of more affordable rates.

Bill Guarantee - Sign up for the TOD rate risk-free. If you pay more under the TOD rate plan for 12 consecutive months, we will credit you the difference.

Whole-Home EV (WHEV) Rate

If you own an electric vehicle, the WHEV rate pilot might be a more beneficial option. Energy used between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am is charged at a lower rate, which means you can save money by charging your vehicle and shifting your energy use to evening hours. Under this rate you can fully charge your EV for an average of $5.

Community Solar

The Community Solar program allows you to receive the benefits of solar energy without installing rooftop solar panels. First, you'll choose a Subscriber Organization and sign up for a solar facility in New Mexico. Then, you'll receive credits on your PNM bill for your portion of the output and a separate bill from your solar facility. You should see savings right away through your subscription.

Other Billing and Assistance Programs

Budget Billing

Budget Billing gives you more predictable energy bills by balancing seasonal highs and lows, taking the guesswork out of your monthly bill. Once signed up, you'll pay the same amount every monthmaking budgeting and planning much easier. You still pay for the energy you use, but your total costs are spread evenly throughout the year. Budget Billing amounts are evaluated twice a year, usually in February and August, and may go up or down based on your actual usage and updated energy costs.

Spreading Good Energy in Our Community

Spreading Good Energy in Our Community

Powering our communities goes far beyond keeping the lights on. Every year, employees roll up their sleeves to support neighbors in need-whether that's volunteering at local food banks, tending community gardens, or cooking meals for families at the Ronald McDonald House.

That dedication to service is why Albuquerque Business First recognized PNM as a 2026 Corporate Philanthropy Award honoree. The company is one of eight honored statewide for meaningful financial support, volunteerism, and community leadership. "We have a long history of corporate giving, and it stems from our core values," said Lisa Goodman, PNM Vice President of Investor and Community Relations. "This is how we are powering New Mexico, together."

Each year, PNM and its employees contribute an average of $3 million in community investment. Highlights include more than 8,500 volunteer hours, a Day of Service that mobilized over 500 employees to assist dozens of nonprofits, and programs that match employee donations or provide grants when employees serve on nonprofit boards. Since 2020, the PNM Good Neighbor Fund has also delivered more than $4 million in utility bill assistance to over 27,000 low income households-support that would triple annually for the next decade under the company's proposed acquisition by Blackstone Infrastructure.

Additional initiatives such as PNM Power Pros, the Navajo Nation Workforce Training Scholarship Program, and the PNM Pueblo Education Scholarship and Endowment further strengthen communities across the state. Together, these efforts reflect PNM's ongoing commitment to Powering New Mexico, Together.
