Momentary outages

Power outages can occur for a variety of reasons — stormy weather, falling trees, knocked down power lines or equipment failure. If you experience a power failure, here's what you can do:

  • Check with your neighbors.
  • If their lights are out too, call PNM.
    • (888) 342-5766

If your house is the only one without power, see if your main fuse is blown or your main circuit breaker has tripped. These are usually on a wall next to your electric meter or in the garage.

Then follow these simple directions to get back in power:

  • Circuit breakers: Switch the main breaker to Off, then to On. If this doesn't work, call PNM.
  • Fuse boxes: Caution; be sure the main switch on the fuse box is set to the Off position before touching any fuses. Replace any blown fuses and turn the main switch to On. Again, if this doesn't work, call PNM for help.
