If you are planning a project that involves digging, take the safe option before digging and call New Mexico One Call: dial 811

Utility line-spotters will come to your site within two working days of receiving your call and will mark any underground lines — electricity, gas, cable, telephone, etc.

PNM marks our underground electric lines with red paint and/or flags. Other companies — gas utility, cable, telephone, alarm and other data-line services— will mark their lines with a different color of paint or flag, depending on the type of line.

After lines have been marked, uncover them by hand before excavating with mechanical equipment, or avoid the areas entirely.

Failure to call before you dig could result in injuries and/or fines if you strike a line. Repair costs can be $300 and higher, depending on the type of line cut.
