PNM is offering homebuilders a rebate for each Energy Star-qualified home they build in a PNM electric service area.

Homes must be inspected by a participating Home Energy Rater. They will assign a HERS Index based on the energy-efficiency of the home.

Incentive levels

  • Tier I — $500 maximum
    • Home must achieve a HERS Index of 85 to 71.
  • Tier II — $750 maximum
    • Home must achieve a HERS Index of 70 to 51.
  • Tier III — $1,000 maximum
    • Home must achieve a HERS Index of 50 or lower.
  • City-specific incentives — $500 maximum
    • City of Albuquerque
      • Permit issued on or after Dec. 1, 2009, and subject to 2009 Albuquerque Energy Conservation Code.
      • Home must achieve a HERS Index of 50 or lower.
    • City of Santa Fe
      • Permit issued on or after July 1, 2009, and subject to Santa Fe Residential Green Building Code.
      • Home must achieve a HERS Index of 50 or lower.
      • Home must be 3000 square feet or less.

Homes must be completed between Dec. 16, 2009 and Dec. 15, 2010 and meet all requirements of an Energy Star-qualified home.

How to get a rebate

  1. Register with the Energy Star homebuilder program administered by the EPA and receive an Energy Star Partner number.

  1. Register as a participating homebuilder.

  1. Follow the steps on the Energy Star Homes Program Web site to apply for a rebate.
