PNM Resources Names Apodaca as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Albuquerque: PNM Resources today announced the selection of Patrick Apodaca as the company’s new senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. He replaces Patrick Ortiz, who announced earlier that he is retiring at the end of this year after an 18-year career with the company.
Apodaca joins PNM Resources from the University of New Mexico, where he has served as university counsel since 2006.
“We are extremely pleased that Patrick is joining our company,” said Jeff Sterba, chairman and CEO. “He brings extensive and relevant experience and expertise in both the state and federal arenas.”
As a partner at the Albuquerque firm of Keleher and McLeod, Apodaca represented PNM Resources on many legal and regulatory fronts during the 1980s and ‘90s. In addition, he has significant experience at the national level, having served as associate counsel to President Carter from 1977 to 1981.
A graduate of Harvard Law School, he has deep roots in New Mexico, having grown up in Las Cruces prior to his family’s move to Peru as part of his father’s career in the U.S. Foreign Service. His community involvement includes serving as a board member and past chairman of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.
