News ReleaseNov. 10, 2009
That Chirp You Hear? It Might Be a Tweet from PNM Albuquerque: PNM customers can now get important updates from the company via the growing social networking and microblogging service Twitter. The company is testing an account at Twitter.com/PNMtalk to communicate with customers in a new way on a variety of issues. The items about which PNM will send Twitter messages – or "tweets" – include:
"The rise of social media allows customers to choose very specifically how they want to receive information," said Sue Fullen, vice president, Customer Service and Marketing. "We believe Twitter is a perfect way for us to share important information with customers and create a way to converse with customers that didn't previously exist." Fullen added that PNMtalk on Twitter is not intended as a way of resolving routine customer service issues. Customers with questions about their individual accounts are still encouraged to visit PNM.com or call PNM at 1-888-DIAL-PNM (1-888-342-5766), 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Any customer, including those without Twitter accounts, can view PNM's tweets by visiting Twitter.com/PNMtalk – or learn more by visiting PNM.com and following the "Power Outages" link. Those customers who have Twitter accounts can actively receive PNM's tweets by accessing their own Twitter accounts, by text page or even by email once they choose to "follow" PNMTalk and select their preferred way of receiving the information. The type of information that PNM posts on Twitter may evolve over time as the company receives feedback from customers. PNM is a subsidiary of PNM Resources, an energy holding company based in Albuquerque, N.M. PNM provides electric utility service to about 500,000 retail customers in New Mexico. PNM Resources stock is traded primarily on the NYSE under the symbol PNM. For more information, see the company's Web site at PNM.com.
