PNM Fund Awards $200,000 in Grants to Save Energy
Albuquerque: The non-profit PNM Fund awarded $200,000 to provide more 44 New Mexico nonprofits with tools for increased energy efficiency and lower bills.
“PNM Reduce Your Use Grants allow New Mexico nonprofits resources to conserve energy. By reducing energy consumption, they can focus more of their money on their respective missions,” said Diane Harrison Ogawa, executive director of the PNM Fund, a division of the PNM Resources Foundation.
Over 100 organizations across New Mexico applied for the grants, which were due in June of this year. The awards were announced in July, giving organizations funding during the prime electric-usage months.
The following organizations serve as an example of programs that received funding:
- Animal Humane Association of NM in Albuquerque will replace original circa 1950’s cast iron windows with high performance windows.
- El Ranchito de Los Ninos in Los Lunas will replace inefficient appliances with new Energy Star® washing machines and dryers.
- Flickinger Center For Performing Arts in Alamogordo will update its thirty year old theater lighting with new energy-saving technology.
Any 501(c)3 organization operating within PNM’s electric service territory was eligible to submit a grant application. The awards were announced in July.
