PNM Natural Gas Prices Rise Slightly This Month But Still Lower Than Last Year Albuquerque: PNM customers will pay about 79 cents per therm this month for natural gas. That is 2.8 percent more than in January but still slightly less than the price a year ago. PNM officials say heating bills are often highest at this time of year and customers should not to be afraid to seek help if they need it. The law protects families and individuals from winter utility disconnection through March 15 if they qualify for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), food stamps, cash assistance and some Medicaid programs. Call the New Mexico Human Services Department at 1-800-283-4464 to qualify, and to apply for LIHEAP. Help is also available from the Salvation Army through the PNM Good Neighbor Fund. PNM customers can support the program by including a donation with their monthly bill. PNM shareholders match customer donations up to $350,000. For information about where to turn for help in your community, call PNM at 1-888-DIAL PNM (888-342-5766). PNM is a subsidiary of PNM Resources, an energy holding company based in Albuquerque, N.M.
