PNM Report Measures Company's Performance as Corporate Citizen
Albuquerque: A publication released today details the most
recent data for PNM Resources' performance in environmental stewardship, economic
vitality and social responsibility and provides examples of initiatives the
company has undertaken in pursuit of these goals.
PNM Resources, the parent company of PNM, has worked in the last several years
to build its business around a sustainability model in which equal consideration
is given to environmental stewardship, social responsibility and economic vitality.
Now the PNM Resources environmental sustainability publications with the most
recent available data are available for customers.
Two reports on the company's sustainability efforts are available for the public
to download at www.pnm.com/sustainability:
- Creating a Sustainable Energy Future is a short, 12-page report that describes
what sustainability means to the company. The report tells the story of
partnerships and efforts that have helped address climate change, assist
low-income customers and provide renewable energy options.
- Sustainability in the New Energy Era is a more in-depth, 52-page corporate
sustainability report that highlights the most recent data for PNM Resources'
sustainability performance and business activities. It provides an in-depth
look at the company's 10 environmental strategies and gives data on the
environmental aspects of its operations including climate change, demand
side management and resource planning.
The report also highlights the corporate programs that support the company's
sustainable business model such as governance and ethics, supplier diversity,
green purchasing, employee volunteerism and workforce planning.
"We're committed to being good stewards of our environment and our communities," said
Jeff Burks, PNM Resources director of environmental sustainability. "Building
a sustainable business means that we are committed to sharing information on
how we operate."
The report addresses PNM Resources' performance on the environmental goals
it has set for itself that include:
- Reducing air emissions
- Reducing waste streams
- Reducing freshwater use
- Promoting renewable energy.
This is the first time PNM Resources has developed its corporate sustainability
report to follow Global Reporting Initiative standards, a recognized best
practice in sustainability reporting that spans all industries.
To support sustainability, both publications are available as online documents
in order to reduce paper waste. Customers and other stakeholders are invited
to download either publication from PNM.com.
