News ReleaseFeb. 20, 2007 PNM Phone Center and Customer Service Offices
Albuquerque: PNM customer service offices and statewide phone center will be closed on Friday, Feb. 23, and through the weekend for a scheduled customer service system update. Help in a gas emergency or electric outage will be available day or night as always at 246-5700 in the Albuquerque area or toll free outside the Albuquerque Metro area at (800) 687-7854. Other services normally available over the phone, via the Internet and at the customer service centers, such as bill payment and new service start-up, will be available again starting Monday, Feb. 26. Because the customer service system will be temporarily offline, payments received Friday through that weekend will not be processed until Monday, Feb. 26. The offices will be closed while PNM updates its customer service system to include southern New Mexico customers of the former Texas-New Mexico Power Company (TNMP), which PNM acquired in 2005. While the customer service system is offline, more than 300 PNM customer service staff will serve their communities by helping nonprofit organizations in Belen, Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Bernalillo, Las Vegas, Taos and Espanola. Projects include painting and landscaping five houses through Habitat for Humanity, organizing groceries for the Road Runner Food Bank, and performing trail work on the Bosque through the Open Space Division in Albuquerque. PNM staff will also participate in projects with the Department of Senior Affairs in Albuquerque, Special Collections Public Library, Healthcare for the Homeless, the Animal Humane Association, Ronald McDonald House, Legal FACS, Amy Biehl High School, Casa Esperanza, Storehouse, Presbyterian Hospital’s Child Life Center, and Adelante Development Center. PNM employees participate in community service projects throughout the year as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the community. PNM is a subsidiary of PNM Resources Inc., an energy holding company based in Albuquerque, N.M. PNM provides electric utility service to 435,000 customers and natural gas service to 487,000 customers in New Mexico. The company also sells power on the wholesale market in the West. PNM Resources stock is traded primarily on the NYSE under the symbol PNM. For more information, see the company's Web site at PNM.com.
