PNM, TNMP Join Customers and Employees in Hurricane Relief
Albuquerque: PNM and Texas-New Mexico Power Co. are teaming up to urge
customers and employees to join the companies in helping victims of Hurricane
Katrina recover from the storm’s devastating impact.
The parent company of the two utilities, PNM Resources, announced today its
goal to raise $150,000 for American Red Cross disaster relief efforts. The
company will match up to $75,000 in customer and employee contributions. Earlier
today, PNM and TNMP line crews began their journey to the disaster area to
help restore electricity to an estimated 2.3 million customers.
"This is the worst natural disaster in our nation's history and
we feel an obligation as a company to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina
every way we can," said Jeff Sterba, PNM Resources Chairman, President
and CEO. "We’re asking our customers and employees to join us in
helping so many who are in great need during this tragic time."
"We recognize that this call for assistance comes as United Way organizations
gear up for their annual fundraising drives. We affirm our commitment to aid
in that important cause as well, and recognize this as a time that requires
great generosity from us all," he said.
Customers wishing to donate can choose from the following options:
- Drop off a check payable to the American Red Cross at any PNM or TNMP walk-in
customer service center
- Mail a check payable to the American Red Cross to: Hurricane Relief Effort,
PNM Resources, Alvarado Square, Albuquerque, NM, 87158-1225.
