At PNM, we value the diversity of our work force and seek
opportunities for incorporating diversity within our company.
A diverse work force enriches our environment and assists
our company in meeting the needs of our employees, customers
and shareholders.
PNM uses employee organizations, such as LLAVE, which represents
Hispanics, and the Women's Professional Organization, to help
recruit and retain employees and prepare them for leadership
roles in our company.
- PNM employs about 2,600 New Mexicans in communities throughout
the state. New Mexico's diversity is reflected in PNM's
work force.
- Hispanics make up more than 40 percent of PNM's work force,
with minorities comprising more than 48 percent of the work
force.
- Half of all new employees hired in 2003 were minorities.
- Four Hispanics and four women serve as officers of PNM.
- Minorities comprise almost 35 percent of PNM's managers.
- Three Hispanics and three women serve on PNM's 10-person
Board of Directors.
National recognition
- In 2004, PNM was recognized by Fortune magazine as one
of the top 10 employers in the nation for minorities —
for the sixth year in a row.
- For six consecutive years, PNM was honored as the best
company in America for Hispanics by Fortune.
- In 2004, the Minority Corporate Counsel Association recognized
PNM with its Employer of Choice Award for its efforts to
promote diversity in the legal profession. The award is
designed to spotlight industry leaders who have a commitment
to and succeed at creating and maintaining an inclusive
corporate legal department.
- In 2000, PNM was one of six companies nationwide that
earned the highest ranking from the Hispanic Association
on Corporate Responsibility.
