PNM To Host Open House for Cerrillos Road
Gas Main Replacement Construction
Santa Fe: In an ongoing effort to improve the safety
and reliability of its natural gas infrastructure, PNM will
begin replacing a gas main under Cerrillos Road beginning
Sept. 8, with construction scheduled for completion by Feb.
4.
Because of the importance of Cerrillos Road as a transportation
artery and business sector, PNM will host an open house on
Thursday, Aug. 21, in order share information about the project
and answer questions from the public. The open house will
begin at 7 p.m. at the PNM office at 2041 South Pacheco. Anyone
interested in this project is encouraged to attend.
"We want to be certain that information is readily available
to motorists, residents and business owners in the area,"
said Deborah O'Callahan, PNM's Director of North Central Operations.
"We have planned this project to have the least possible
impact while we perform this important gas main replacement."
Work will be done section by section so only about 2,000
feet of Cerrillos Road will be under construction at any given
time. The first section will be from Cordova Road to approximately
White Swan Laundry at 1372 Cerrillos Road. Work on this section
will begin Sept. 8 and will last approximately three weeks.
The last work section on Cerrillos Road will be just south
of Siler Road. The work schedule calls for construction to
occur Saturday through Thursday during daylight hours. PNM
anticipates work to begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday,
and 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Crews will work until approximately
9 p.m.
Lane closure will be limited to one northbound lane for the
approximately 2,000-foot length of the current work section.
The lane will reopen at the end of the construction workday,
and will be open all day on Fridays to accommodate peak traffic
flows. At least one northbound lane will be open to traffic
at all times. Some intersections with small side streets will
also be closed at various times during the project, but access
to Cerrillos Road will not be significantly reduced, and detour
routes will be clearly marked.
More information about this project is available by visiting
www.cerrillosroad.com and clicking on the PNM logo. PNM has
also created a project hotline where people can get up-to-date
project information and record their questions or concerns.
The hotline number is 438-6984. A PNM representative will
check the hotline messages regularly.
