News ReleaseMay 8, 2001 Cerrillos Road Construction To Begin on Friday
Albuquerque: PNM, Public Service Co. of New Mexico, will begin replacement and relocation of a portion of a natural gas line running under Cerrillos Road beginning Friday, May 11. As a result, the far right lane for northeast-bound drivers on a portion of Cerrillos Road will be closed to traffic through May 25. The segment of Cerrillos affected by the construction work begins at Tin-Nee-Ann Trading Co., 923 Cerrillos Road, and ends at McDonalds, 739 Cerrillos Road. Drivers will still be able to access businesses on the south side of the street. We will move quickly to get this done and will try to minimize traffic disruption whenever possible, said Frank Aragon, PNM director of north central operations. Aragon said two contiguous lanes of Cerrillos may be closed at some point during the construction. After the Cerrillos Road segment of the work is complete,
crews will move to nearby Early, Gilmore and Topeka streets,
which are south of Cerrillos Road, to begin laying pipe there.
That portion of the work will not affect traffic on Cerrillos
Road and will be completed in early June.
