Industrial Process Operator Program
In a few years,
retirements will open scores of jobs at San Juan Generating Station, which is
located near Farmington. These are good-paying jobs with potential for long-term
career growth and advancement. To help fill these positions, San Juan Generating
Station, operated by PNM, has contributed $600,000 to help establish the Industrial
Process Operator Program at San Juan College. The program trains students
to operate the many systems at a power station or in the oil and gas industries.
In two years, students can earn an associate's degree and be on their way toward
earning $30,000 to $40,000 per year as apprentices in our operations. For example,
fully qualified journeymen with four years of experience make about $26 per hour
at PNM. Learn more about IPOP at San Juan College (sanjuancollege.edu)
