New Mexico's Quality of Life
Land of Enchantment
New Mexico, a hidden treasure of the Southwest, is an enchanting
place to live with its open vistas, brilliant skies, friendly
people, unique history, diverse cultures, fantastic cuisine
and year-round recreational activities.
Climate
The normal weather patterns call for warm to hot days and
cool nights with scattered thundershowers in the summer
and cold nights and moderate days with some snow in the
winter. Fall and spring can bring some of the most gorgeous
weather, with spring being the most unpredictable.
Culture
Drawing on a rich heritage
drawn from Native American, Hispanic and Anglo cultures,
New Mexico is a mosaic of culture and the arts.
Outdoors
New Mexico is an outdoor recreation
paradise with year-round outdoor activities including: hiking,
fishing, skiing, white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing,
swimming, boating, tennis, mountain biking, caving, horseback
riding, rodeos, sand surfing, hunting and golfing.
New Mexico has 31 state parks (17 with lakes), 10 national
monuments, five national forests and three national parks.
Cuisine
Green or red? Chile grown mostly in southern and central
New Mexico is a staple ingredient in much of the state's
native cuisine.
Special events
As many as 1,000 hot-air balloons
decorate the sky during the Albuquerque International Balloon
Fiesta in October.
