Electricity reliability

PNM was the top-rated utility for keeping power on, according to a survey of 36 utilities conducted by the Edison Electric Institute. PNM customers averaged just 64.87 minutes without electricity during all of 2001. The national average was 209.4 minutes.


Availability

  • PNM has ample generation supply and capacity for its transmission and distribution network.
  • In 2002, PNM completed construction of two new wholesale power plants — one in Lordsburg and one near Las Cruces.


Environment

  • PNM received national awards for its environmental efforts at the San Juan Power Plant and forestry work statewide.
  • San Juan is also in a partnership with an Arizona-based, American Indian-owned company to recycle its fly ash for its use in cement.
