PNM SolarPV
We're glad you're considering adding solar energy to your home or business.
Using the power of the sun to generate your own electricity is smart for you and smart for the environment.
- Smart for you because the energy you produce and use reduces your PNM electric bill.
- Smart for the environment because solar PV systems produce clean, renewable energy that reduces greenhouse gas emmissions and saves water.
The PNM Small PV Program pays you in two ways:
- Metering credit: When your solar panels produce more electricity than you use in a given month, PNM credits that energy toward your future bills.
- PNM REC Purchase: Because you’re adding renewable-fueled power to the PNM system, we also pay you 13 cents per kilowatt-hour for helping us meet our environmental goals.
Tax credits
Not only does PNM offer two ways to reduce your electric bill, but generous federal and state tax credits make investing in a solar PV system even more affordable.
- The federal government is offering a tax credit for 30% of the cost of your system.
- The state of New Mexico is also offering a tax credit for up to 10 percent ($9,000 max.) of the cost your system.
