  • Make sure you and other family members know where the breaker or fuse box is located and how to shut it off.
  • Never replace an existing fuse with a larger one — this allows excessive current to flow.
  • Larger fuses can overload outlets and wiring and start a fire.
  • If all or nearly all fuses are 30-amp, there is a good chance that some are rated too high for the circuit. Replace them as soon as possible with the right size. If in doubt, have a licensed electrician label the fuse sizes.
