PNM Has Most Rio Rancho Gas Customers Restored
Albuquerque: As of this afternoon, PNM crews visited approximately
all 2,800 homes in the Enchanted Hills area in an effort to restore gas service
that has been out since yesterday.
In many cases, customers were not home when PNM technicians arrived at their
home, in which case notices were left asking customers to call the company
to have a technician turn on their meter and relight their appliances.
"Our goal is to provide uninterrupted service every day of the year,
but we recognize the special inconvenience of losing gas service on the eve
of an important holiday," said Terry Horn, PNM vice president for Marketing
and Customer Service.
The outage was caused during a gas line construction project nearby when backup
supplies were not available as planned to serve the neighborhood.
The outage required crews to individually turn off the gas at each home, purge
the lines of air, then go back and turn on the gas and light furnaces and gas
appliances in each home individually.
PNM estimates that approximately 700 customers were not at home when technicians
knocked on their doors. Those customers should contact PNM at 246-5700. PNM
will dispatch a service technician as soon as possible to restore service.
Crews will be available after hours tonight, on Thanksgiving Day and throughout
the weekend.
