How Ending of PNM E-Bill
Affects Existing Customers
- If you were signed up for the PNM E-Bill program as of May 31, 2011:
- No action is required regarding how you receive your bill.
- You will be automatically enrolled in our paperless billing option, unless you choose to receive your bill via U.S. mail.
- Change or cancel paperless bill options online.
- You must take action regarding how you pay your bill, starting in June 2011.

- Beginning in June, you will have to choose a new way to pay.
- Your payment will not be automatically made using the payment method you chose for PNM E-Bill.
- You do not need to cancel your PNM E-Bill recurring payment method. This will happen automatically.
- You can choose from a variety of payment options, including:
- Free online click-to-pay from your checking, savings or money market account
- Free automatic payments from checking or savings with Automatic Payment
- Pay online at your bank's website
- Plus others.
- We will no longer accept Visa® credit/debit cards, or ATM cards with a PULSE® or STAR®logo payments for free.
- You can make a one-time payment by credit or debit card, including Visa, Mastercard® or Discover® card online or over the phone, but there will be a charge of $2.95.

Why no more free Visa?
- When PNM E-Bill was first offered, Visa provided a competitive rate to process debit and credit cards.
- Visa processing costs have increased fivefold.
- Increased processing costs have made free credit and debit card acceptance prohibitive.
- Most merchants build the processing fees into prices of products and services.
- PNM is not currently permitted to include that cost in electric rates.
