Fire Causes Unprocessed Gas To Enter PNM
System
Albuquerque: Williams Company notified PNM this afternoon
that a fire occurred at the Williams Lybrook natural gas processing
plant in northwestern New Mexico. Due to the fire, gas with
a higher than normal moisture content and energy content (BTU)
— known as unprocessed gas — has entered the PNM
gas transmission system.
Though PNM immediately took steps to isolate part of its
gas transmission system and reroute gas supply, this gas could
potentially impact gas service to customers in Cuba and, to
a lesser extent, Los Alamos, Espanola and Taos during the
next 24 to 48 hours.
Most customers should not notice anything out of the ordinary
and no problems are expected. However, any customer whose
pilot light goes out, who smells gas or who has questions
about their service should immediately call their natural
gas provider.
- PNM customers in Cuba, Espanola and Taos can call (800)
687-7854.
- Los Alamos residents can call Los Alamos County at (505)
662-8222.
PNM is the principal subsidiary of PNM Resources,
an energy holding company based in Albuquerque. PNM provides
electric utility service to 387,000 customers and natural
gas service to 450,000 customers in New Mexico. The company
also sells power on the wholesale market in the Western U.S.
PNM Resources stock is traded primarily on the NYSE under
the symbol PNM.
