Ruidoso Fire: PNM Electric Service Impact

Efforts are under way by PNM crews to begin restoring power to television and mobile communications towers near Ruidoso.

A wildfire that has burned large areas also damaged PNM poles on Buck Mountain that hold lines that deliver power to the communications towers. The damage disrupted power to the towers.

The TV and mobile equipment could be without power for several days.

Repairing this equipment is unlike other, "routine" power outages. The terrain is difficult, in addition to complications from the fire (including smoke and potential for burned trees falling). Additional PNM crews and equipment have been sent from elsewhere in the state to help restore power to the towers.
